Measurement Units Standards and Services Department (mussd, National Metrology Institute) in Sri Lanka and TrainMiC®, European Commission-Joint Research Centre, jointly conduct a one day training programme entitled “Uncertainty

Uncertainty estimation is one of the important and confusing topics in the measurement science. And also measurement uncertainty plays a significant role in the quality of a measurement result. According to the ISO 17025 & ISO 15189 international standards, estimating measurement uncertainty is mandatory to obtain accreditation for calibration, testing & medical laboratories.

 

Course content:

 

Measurement Uncertainty

Basic principles, Uncertainty sources, Basic mathematics 

Different Approaches in Uncertainty Estimation

Modeling approach, Single Lab Validation & Quality Control approach

Uncertainty Estimation Techniques

Spread sheet method, Kragten method

Practical Examples

This programme is intended for Analytical chemists, metrologists, quality managers or people involved in quality management in the analytical, testing & medical laboratories, assessors and technical experts involved in internal and external laboratory quality assessments.

The purpose of this programme is to provide comprehensive knowledge on uncertainty estimation in measurement science. Practical examples of uncertainty estimations related to analytical chemistry and medical testing will be discussed in detail. 

Participants will be awarded a certificate which is jointly issued by mussd Sri Lanka and TrainMiC®, European Commission-Joint Research Centre.

Quality of the result of a chemical measurement depends on?
(i) Validated measurement procedures
(ii) Evaluated uncertainties of the results
(iii) Traceability of measurement results

Therefore the purpose of this programme is to improve basic knowledge on uncertainty estimation, procedure/method validation and traceability establishment in chemical metrology

Traceability establishment in MiC

This programme is intended for Analytical chemists, metrologists, quality managers or people involved in quality management in the analytical and testing laboratories, assessors or technical experts involved in internal and external laboratory quality assessments.
